Saxlandia 2026
Saxlandia is a one-day celebration of all things saxophone for students, educators and community members. Featuring a full schedule of workshops, masterclasses, concerts and an all-participant giant saxophone ensemble.
Hosted by William Pyle, Mark Pipes and Shane Valle, with internationally renowned guest artist Aruna Quartet.
Activities begin at 9:00AM, and all are invited to join us at 4:00PM in Lincoln Recital Hall (LH 75) for a free community concert featuring Aruna Quartet, Portland Saxophone Ensemble and a giant saxophone ensemble featuring all saxlandia participants.
Schedule
- 9:00AM – Arrival / Check In
- 9:30AM - 10:30AM – Full group warm-up and mini rehearsal
- 10:30AM - 11:30AM – Quartet Masterclass with Aruna Quartet
- 11:30AM - 12:30PM – Lunch Break (on your own)
- 12:30PM - 2:00PM – Soloists Masterclass with Mark Pipes & Aruna Quartet
- 2:15PM - 3:30PM – All-participant large ensemble rehearsal
- 4:00PM - 5:30PM – SAXlandia Concert (free and open to the public)
- 6:00PM - 7:30PM – Dinner Break (on your own)
- 7:30PM – Oregon Symphony Concert at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall (Tickets still available, Steven Banks no longer performing)
